How to Buy a Gun Online
Buying a firearm online is straightforward when you know the process. Here's everything you need to know.
Before You Buy
- You must be at least 21 years old to purchase a handgun; 18 for rifles and shotguns in most states.
- You must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident alien.
- You must not be a prohibited person under federal or state law.
- California residents: confirm the exact make, model, and color appears on the California Handgun Roster before purchasing.
- Some states have waiting periods, magazine restrictions, or feature bans — check your local laws.
The Process — Step by Step
Find your firearm and add to cart
Browse our inventory and place your order using any accepted payment method (cash, check, or major credit/debit card).
Choose your local FFL dealer
During checkout, you'll be asked where you'd like the firearm shipped. Select a licensed FFL dealer near you. You can use Gun Gear Warehouse if you're in the Kansas City area — or find a dealer closer to you.
Your FFL dealer sends us their license
Contact your local dealer and have them email their FFL documentation to GunGearWarehousellc@gmail.com. Most dealers handle this routinely. Typical FFL transfer fees range from $10–$50.
We ship to your FFL dealer
Once we receive the FFL documentation, we ship the firearm directly to your local dealer via UPS or FedEx. You'll receive a tracking number by email. Most orders ship within 1–2 business days.
Pick up your firearm locally
Your dealer will contact you when the firearm arrives. Go in, show your ID, complete the ATF Form 4473, pass the background check (NICS), and take your firearm home.
Shipping & Timeline
Most orders ship within 24–48 hours of receiving all required documentation. Standard ground shipping applies to most orders. Handguns must ship via UPS or FedEx — they cannot be shipped via USPS.
New to Firearms?
We strongly encourage all new owners to take a certified firearms safety course and practice basic safe handling rules at all times: treat every firearm as loaded, never point at anything you're not willing to destroy, keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot, and know your target and what's beyond it.
